Hidden from the main road, yet only a few yards down a lane opposite Nether Alderley Mill, lies one of Cheshire’s gems, the 14th century church of St.Marys.
Passing by old cottages and under spreading beech trees you discover hidden treasures –
a splendid group of ancient buildings. Through the church gates is the Elizabethan school (used as such until 1908), the Stanley family mausoleum built in 1909 and of course the beautiful and much loved church of St.Marys.
This website is dedicated to the heritage of St.Mary’s Church. Learn about its fascinating history, its links with the Stanley family and its beautiful furnishings. We also welcome Family History enquiries.
